Why Is My Differential Pressure So High?
Learn what causes elevated differential pressure and how to restore normal operation.
High differential pressure means there is a significant pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the filter. This usually indicates that the screen is restricted by debris, the flow rate is too high, or the filter is not cleaning effectively.
Common Reasons
- Dirty or clogged screen
- Undersized filter
- Screen openings are too small
- Insufficient cleaning or flushing
- Unexpected increase in suspended solids
High differential pressure should not be ignored because it can reduce flow and affect downstream equipment. Start by confirming that the cleaning cycle is working, then evaluate whether the filter is properly sized for the actual operating conditions.
