Why Am I Losing Pressure Across My Filter?
Diagnose excessive pressure loss in industrial water filtration systems.
Pressure loss across a filter usually means water is being restricted as it passes through the screen. Some pressure drop is normal, but excessive pressure loss can reduce system performance and may indicate clogging, undersizing, or an incorrect micron rating.
Possible Causes
- Debris buildup on the screen
- Filter is too small for the flow rate
- Screen micron rating is too fine
- Cleaning cycle is not fully removing debris
- Flow rate exceeds the filter's nominal capacity
If pressure loss remains high after cleaning, inspect the screen, verify flow rate, and confirm that the selected micron rating is appropriate for the application. Persistent pressure loss may require a different filter size or screen configuration.
